Fernando Orejas is professor at the Department of Computer Science, Technical University of Catalonia (UPC). He served as Head of Computer Science between 1996 and 2002, and as Vice-Rector between 2013 and 2017. He was awarded the José García Santesmases prize in 2016, which is a Spanish award for services to computer science.

During his visit, Fernando will deliver a series of lectures on the theory and practice of graph transformations, an algebraic development technique of which he is one of the founders. The lectures will be organised as a school, which will take place at Royal Holloway between June 30 and July 1 – programme and registration are available here.

Fernando will be collaborating with us in the development of an algebraic semantics and logic that support the specification and verification of cyber-physical systems based on Robin Milner’s bigraphs.

He will also be one of the invited speakers at the 24th Workshop on Algebraic Development Techniques, which will be held at Royal Holloway, 2-5 July.
