Attack on implantable cardiac device

The project will investigate the safety and security of medical devices like implantable cardiac devices to treat arrhythmia treatment and artificial pancreas systems for glucose regulation in diabetes. These systems have experienced dramatic technological advancements and nowadays support automated therapy delivery, internet connectivity and AI-based therapy recommendations. This complexity introduces broad attack surfaces that can put patient safety at risk.

The project will run for 3 years and will develop in silico methods (i.e., based on simulation models) to study sophisticated attacks that are stealthy, personalized to the victim's medical condition and target the specific vulnerabilities of the AI-based system components.
