The GEE! Learning Games Awards are the most prestigious awards for education game design. They were founded by James Paul Gee, the "father" of educational video games. The award is judged by international leaders in the field.

The SMaILE project (Simple Methods for Artificial Intelligence Learning and Education) aims to make AI accessible to young learners. The project was chosen for the GEE! award from finalists across diverse categories including Formal Learning (Elementary and Middle+), Informal Learning, Small and Indie Studios, and Analog Games. Additionally, the project was honored with finalist recognition in the "Informal Learning" category.

In addition to Prof. Bernardini and Dr. Franco-Aixela, a special mention goes to Alexandra Neacsu from RHUL, who is completing her PhD and has made substantial contributions to the project in both development and testing roles. As they currently navigate the data collection phase and prepare publications, this award comes as a testament to the hard work and commitment of the entire team.
