Rewriting the State: New views on race, class and gender

Scarlett Crawford is an Artist and Artist Educator, and a University of London almuna (SOAS, MA in Global Cultural & Creative Industries). At this talk she will share with you some of the work from her recent exhibition, 'First Waves', commissioned by and exhibited at the Houses of Parliament in January 2019.

In this exhibition Scarlett worked with communities across the UK who were impacted by early race discrimination legislation, which was her response to a commission by the Houses of Parliament to mark the introduction of the Race Relations Acts.

Come to hear Scarlett reflect on the project and her exhibition, and to learn more about the fascinating individuals whose portraits her exhibition details. Her talk is entitled: 'Rewriting the State: New Views on Race, Class and Gender'.

All welcome. For further details of Scarlett's work see https://www.scarlettcrawford.com/about.html
