Marie-Amance Schwartz - Language Tutor in French

Marie-Amance Schwartz - Language Tutor in French

I am a Language Tutor in French at the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at the Royal Holloway University of London, with a Research Master's Degree in English literature and civilization from Sorbonne University in Paris.

My academic research focused on studying horses as witnesses of social changes in Britain’s eighteenth century, using visual arts as a medium. After applying to Paris-Sorbonne to become a foreign language teacher, I was thrilled to receive the opportunity to teach French at the University of Hull in 2019. My love of British culture and eagerness to remain involved in the English educational system led me to teach at Charterhouse School for two years. Now, I am proud to represent French culture and the Francophone world at Royal Holloway, where I continue to share my passion for both France and Canada.

I am interested in analysing written texts and how languages develop through time. I am keen on prioritising the use of speaking in my class as I believe that speech is not only at the core of any language but the most effective way to communicate. Additionally, I am a trained equine ethologist and have taught horse riding to both children and adults for over fifteen years. Curiosity, determination, and dedication are the keywords of my lifestyle and inner motivation.
