Clinical doctorate

Clinical doctorate

The three-year full-time course  leads to a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) awarded by Royal Holloway University of London, one of the 19 institutions making up the University of London. Upon completion of the course, trainees are eligible to apply for chartered status as a Clinical Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

We accept applications for NHS places from UK and non-UK candidates with a pre-existing right to work in the UK.

We do not accept applicants who do not have the right to work in the UK. We do not have self-funded places.

Trainees commissioned by the NHS are employees of Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust and are paid on the prevailing NHS trainee (Band 6) scales plus full Inner London weighting with university fees covered by Health Education England (please see trainee job description).

The course  is accredited with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) for a CBT-focused stream, or pathway, within the course. Trainees completing this pathway will, at the end of the course, meet all the requirements for practitioner accreditation with BABCP. The pathway has particular requirements, including some additional elements, which are outlined here.
