University studentships

University studentships

University studentships are usually awarded for 3.5 years for a full-time student and 7 years pro-rata for a part-time student. They are awarded in one of the following ways:

• Combined fee and stipend awards (for which the stipend level for 23/24 is £20,622 per annum)

• A financial contribution towards either fees or stipend

• A fee award (either Home/EU or international).

Students who have either industry or overseas Government sponsorship for their full stipend can apply for a fee award and should discuss this option with their proposed Supervisor.

There is no central application process for University studentships and recipients are normally selected by Departments. You should indicate a wish to be considered for a University studentship to your supervisor or the Director of Postgraduate Education in the relevant Department.

You can also gain funding for your studies from the Research Councils
