Politics, International Relations and Philosophy

The Department of Politics, International Relations and Philosophy at Royal Holloway University generates world-leading research and teaching on topics ranging from the study of elections, to global environmental policy, to issues of immigration and asylum, to youth movements and the politics of young Londoners, to the impact of Brexit, to women’s under-representation in politics, and problems related to Covid-19 pandemic. Our research informs both our teaching and impact with organisations, from the United Nations to the Greater London Authority, to mental health and refugee organisations in the UK and internationally.

This page is designed to share our work with you in a form designed for easy consumption, to stimulate ideas and discussion amongst teachers and pupils in secondary schools. The resources include blogs, newspaper articles, short academic articles, and podcasts produced by our academics, and organised into themes, we hope you will enjoy them.

In addition, one of our academics, Dr. Ursula Hackett, has developed a site to help essay writing for undergraduate students. You might want to have a look at it, to give you a flavour of what to expect at university.

If you wish to discuss any of these outputs or have any ideas about resources we could provide for you, please get in touch with Dr. James Sloam by email.
